tentative 2020-21 Regattas

All regattas are attended by teams from all over the state.  We typically leave on Friday morning at 10 AM so we can practice on the course on Friday afternoon.

Racing takes place on Saturday only with the exception of the State and Championship Regattas.  For these regattas, racing takes place on Saturday AND Sunday.

HGRC 5K

A running race, not a rowing regatta.  Required for returning athletes.  Optional for Novice.  Families and friends are encouraged to participate too!

 

East Coast Classic

Date: October 10

Host:  Sebastian River Rowing

Returning Athletes.  Our first rowing race of the year!

 

Virtual Head of the Charles

Date: Saturday, October 17

Host:  Head of the Charles Regatta

Location: Fort Lauderdale

4,702 meters on the erg.  Required for Returning athletes.  Optional for Novice.

 

Virtual Head of the Hooch

Dates: Saturday, November 7

Host: Atlanta Rowing Club

Location: Fort Lauderdale

5,000 meters on the erg.  Required for Returning athletes.  Optional for Novice.

 

Stetson Fall Rendevous

Dates: Friday & Saturday, November TBD

All Athletes.  Novice’s first race!

 

Miami Shake An Erg 

Date: Saturday, January TBD

Host: Shake A Leg Miami

Location: Coconut Grove, FL

Required for returning athletes.  Optional for first year athletes.  An indoor rowing competition where each rower rows for 2,000 meters on an ergometer.  All proceeds go to Shake A Leg Foundation.

 

Novice Regatta

Dates: Friday & Saturday, January or February TBD

Host: Lake Brantley Rowing Association

Location: Turkey Lake, Orlando, FL

A regatta exclusively for Novice!  A rower is classified as a Novice for one year beginning with their first competition.

 

Sarasota Invitational Regatta

Dates: Friday & Saturday, February TBD

Host: Sarasota County Rowing

Location: Nathan Benderson Park, Sarasota, FL

All Athletes.  An opportunity to race on a world class race course where States and Nationals will be held.

 

OARS Youth Invitational

Dates: Friday & Saturday, March TBD

STA Spring Break

Dates:  Thursday-Sunday, April 1-11

No, this is not a race.  But, it is a very important period in our training as we head into States.  Please ensure you are home to attend all practices.  Girls attending other schools are expected to be here for practices during their spring breaks also.  Thank you!

 

Miami International Regatta

Date: Saturday, April 3

Host: Miami Rowing Club

Location: Key Biscayne, Miami, FL

All Athletes.  No overnight stay.  And, since it’s right down the road, it’s a great regatta for family and friends to attend and see what Crew is all about!

 

FSRA Sculling Championship (Sculling States)

Dates: Friday-Sunday, April 9-11

Host: Florida Scholastic Rowing Association

Location: Nathan Benderson Park, Sarasota, FL

Only selected athletes due to equipment restrictions.  This is the state championship for sculling boats.  It requires leaving on Friday morning and staying overnight on Friday AND Saturday.  Racing is on Saturday AND Sunday.

 

FSRA Sweep Championship (Sweep States)

Dates: Friday-Sunday, April 23-25

Host: Florida Scholastic Rowing Association

Location: Nathan Benderson Park, Sarasota, FL

All Athletes.  This is the state championship for sweep boats and what we train for all year!  It requires leaving on Friday morning and staying overnight on Friday AND Saturday.  Racing is on Saturday AND Sunday.

 

USRowing Southeast Youth Championship (Regionals)

Dates: Friday-Sunday, May 7-9

Host: USRowing

Location: Melton Hill Lake, Oak Ridge, TN

This is the championship regatta for all teams in the Southeast.  We will be racing crews from Florida as well as Alabama, Georgia, the Carolinas and Tennessee.  Our results from the state regattas will determine which boats/athletes will go to this regatta.

 

SRAA Regatta (Scholastic Nationals)

Dates: Thursday-Saturday, May 27-29

Host: Scholastic Rowing Association of America

Location: Cooper River, Camden, NJ

This is the national championship regatta for school teams.  Only STA athletes are eligible to attend.  It is by invitation only.  Boats are invited based on their results at States.

 

USRowing Youth National Championship (Nationals)

Dates: Wednesday-Sunday, June 9-13

Host: USRowing

Location: Nathan Benderson Park, Sarasota

This is the championship regatta for all teams in the United States.  It is by invitation only.  Boats that medal at Regionals are invited.
